Traditional analogue lines and ISDN circuits are being phased out across the UK, and once your exchange is done there is no option to renew. Every business still on those services will need a digital replacement, which means the only real decision is whether you move on your own timetable or someone else's. Moving early tends to be calmer: you choose the port date, test the new setup on a temporary number first, and train the team before anything changes.

Be aware of one honest detail. Porting a number is a handover between two networks, and there is a short window on switch day when the number has left the old provider and is not yet live on the new one. It is usually minutes, but it is not zero — we plan around it by advertising a mobile for the day and picking a quiet mid-week slot. Any provider promising a completely seamless port is overselling it.
